Jo T. Machinist, AIA, is a nationally recognized architect
with an extensive list of projects throughout the United States.
Specializing in residential design the firm addresses new construction as well as renovation and restoration, and although the work does not reflect one particular style, all of the projects are distinguished by an uncompromising commitment to design excellence. Evident throughout Machinist’s work are repetitive and recognizable themes, but the recurring element that brings the ultimate harmony is balance, not just in proportion but in execution.
Among her many strengths, Machinist is especially recognized for innovative solutions to existing structures, reconfiguring spaces to create optimum usage and enhancing visual appeal. Distinguished by a client-centered approach, she is cognitive of the importance of family dynamics and draws
upon this knowledge from the onset of the design phase.
Ms. Machinist is a member of the American Institute of Architects, a past trustee of the Helen Hayes Performing Arts Center Theater Restoration and has served five terms as Zoning Administrator of the Historic Village of Grand View on Hudson, New York. Her residential work has been featured in prestigious house tours of the Historical Society of Rockland County and her recent residential and commercial work has enjoyed extensive coverage in design journals. Completed works range from Manhattan penthouses and Soho lofts to private residences in New York, Connecticut, the Hamptons, Palm Beach, New England and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
